Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as 'Iron Man of India'. Born on October 31st, 1875, his birth anniversary is being celebrated as 'Rashtriaya Ekta Diwas'.On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 143rd birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modiji unveiled the 'Statue of Unity' at Gujarat's Kevadiya. The project was first announced in 2010 and the construction of statue started in October 2013 by Larsen & Toubro, who received the contract for ₹2989 crore (US$420 million) from Government of Gujarat.It was designed by Ram V. Suthar and inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modiji on 31 October 2018, the 143rd anniversary of Patel's birth
